Telecoms Business Development Manager - Technical

Role:

• Primary role is to act as a Technical Business Development Manager reporting to the General Manager. The position will be responsible for developing the increasing number of Technical consultancy sales leads and supporting the business in organising the sales activity and client management activities through to the commencement of client projects.

• Will work in cooperation with the other Business Development Manager on general business consulting for all aspects of risk management consultancy services.

• Will provide support to WeDo Regional Group sales relating directly to Praesidium business development opportunities in conjunction with another Business Development Manager – including sales collaterals.

• The position will involve sales related activities and responses to RFPs, proposal drafting, through to contract signature and ongoing management of clients. Also includes reporting of client activity (in CRM system) and reporting and progress management of clients.

• The position will provide technical consultancy on site (estimated at 20% of time) activity, report writing, presentation drafting and delivery and reviewing/proof reading client deliverables.

• Clients will predominantly include wireline, wireless and Internet providers as well as a range of telecom industry vendors. There may be some non Telco client activity supporting the other consulting divisions in Retail, Finance and Utilities. 

Detailed Responsibilities:

• Developing sales leads with existing and target clients on an international basis particularly for technical/security areas of risk management.
• Co-ordination with WeDo regional offices on Praesidium Sales activities as and when required.
• Producing complex and technical proposals, pricing of consultancy work and co-ordinating client activities with other Praesidium colleagues.
• Attending sales meetings (as required) and to deliver sales presentations to support regions Worldwide.
• Attending, presenting at and supporting Global Security Risk Management conferences.
• Maintaining up to date client contact information including updating the CRM system with all Praesidium sales leads.
• Communicating via Email and telephone calling for sales campaigns to target customers globally.
• Arranging client project logistics for consultancy assignments, training and industry events.
• Performing quality management activities – including proof reading proposals, reports and presentations.
• Assisting in the development of business development and consultancy material – presentations, training material, articles, white papers etc.
• Completing and complying with ISO & Praesidium project management forms & processes.

Location:

• The position will be located; home based within 1 hour of Reading (UK) management office and will involve international travel worldwide, sometimes at short notice.
 
Job level:

•  Pay and conditions will be commensurate with UK Based location and graded as Senior Manager/Experienced Manager depending on candidate experience.

Personal Skills & Qualities:

• Have at least 10 years Business Development experience and ideally at least 10 years technical exposure in a telecoms environment and knowledge of NGN technologies.
• Have experience of a consultancy environment and activities in sales, presales or technical support consulting.
• Proven ability to sell (open and close deals) in a complex technical environment with excellent negotiation skills.
• Have detailed technical knowledge in GSM, fixed and Next Generation Networks such as IMS & LTE.
• Have experience of working in International Groups such as the GSMA or ETSI in a Fraud, Security or Risk capacity.
• Good communication skills with a very high standard of spoken and written English.
• Ability to prepare technical proposals in English.
• Technical understanding of telecommunication networks or work in a technical related industry (such as IT, or electrical engineering).
• Ability to work accurately, efficiently and under pressure to meet business objectives and deadlines.
• Ideally possess project planning and management skills.
• Be methodical, well organised, forward thinking and practical when determining client requirements and meeting their needs.  
• Ability to produce accurate and concise documentation for proposals (MS Word/Excel) and presentations (MS Powerpoint).
• Strong respect for deadlines in a commercial environment to deliver against and beyond expectations.
• Be able to work under own initiative, have an enquiring mind but also a flexible team player.
• Self motivated with the ability to operate at times outside normal hours.
• Ability to travel extensively internationally at short notice without limitations.
• Foreign language skills - including either French, Portuguese and Spanish would an advantage.

Qualifications:

• Higher education/degree level with a relevant discipline, including qualification in English and Maths - GCE A level or equivalent.
• Member of relevant professional institution.

 
Business Development Manager

The position will be responsible for developing risk management consultancy services sales leads and supporting the business in organising the sales and client management activities through to commencement of client projects. The role will provide support to regional group sales relating directly to Praesidium business development opportunities.  It will involve initiating and managing client leads, proposal drafting and in some instances being involved in supporting consultancy activity, report writing, reviewing and quality approval of client deliverables.  Clients will predominantly include wireline, wireless and Internet providers as well as a range of telecom industry vendors and longer term non-Telco clients. 

Knowledge and experience of consultancy sales and/or the Telecoms Risk Management market is preferred. A proven track record in business development with a minimum of 5 years experience is essential.
