Telecoms Prepaid Voucher Product Risks |
|
With the advancement in the use of electronic type “Top Up” methods, the global perspective on the more traditional type voucher products was likely to see a reduction in security and fraud risks. This may well be the position in the more mature markets, however, Præsidium is increasingly being commissioned by Operators and Vendors on a global basis to provide an independent evaluation on the security and quality being provided within prepaid and calling card products. In Q2. 2009, Praesidium has secured contracts with six new voucher suppliers requiring testing of existing and planned products. This level of activity highlights the need to continually have products independently assessed to demonstrate to Operator clients that proactive initiatives are being taken to ‘secure’ their interests in vouchers. Operator requests for Praesidium’s testing services are at an all time high especially where Operators are making it a condition of acceptance as a preferred supplier. They are looking for an independent risk assessment of what is in essence “money” and are requiring potential suppliers to subject their products to security testing prior to even being considered as a possible supplier. To date, Præsidium has evaluated vouchers from more than 50 operators globally (including Group Telcos) and 25 vendors. |
